I’ve you own a rechargeable sex toy, you might have noticed that one piece of advice is to charge it every 3 to 6 months, even if you don’t use it.
If you already do that, great!
If not, you should start, because it will extend the life of your toys!
However, I don’t stop there.
This year, I took every single piece of BDSM, kink, and adult product out of drawers, boxes and bags and did a complete overhaul. There was one “toy demise” and one toy that miraculously came back to life!
THE DUMPING GROUND
I’m the kind of person that prefers to put all of my stuff in one place – and then work from there. This includes changing over my winter/summer clothes, cleaning my house, etc.
So, I went through every box, bag, and drawer … and dumped it on my bed.
I know it might look like something impossible, but for me, I like knowing that EVERYTHING is in one place and I don’t have to go searching for misplaced chargers or garter clasps.
CLOTHING FIRST
I love my apartment, but I have to be a bit creative with my storage. Getting the clothes out of the way first, also allows me to reorganize my closet. It also takes away most of the “bulk” on that huge pile. What ended up happening?
- I switched all my winter stuff to the spare room and kept all my adult stuff in the bedroom (for now). This included things like panty hose and bodysuits (sexy or not).
- Items were divided into sexy and more often used to a corset box with all my garters and similar items.
- Shoes were moved to different shelved and labeled so I could find them easier.
- Since softer, more flexible items were easier to put in my storage boxes, they went in there.
KINK SECOND
My very kinky stuff has their own cupboard in the spare room. When I get it remolded, it will be a proper rope/play room.
The center of the wardrobe is perfect. Sex toys on top. Kink stuff in drawers. Here’s how it was sorted…
- Leashes, collars, and small bondage cuffs etc.
- Tiny things and small decorations or accessories
- Latex vacuum bed
TOYS LAST
This one might sound easy, but it takes a loooong time.
First, you take all toys out of their boxes. Then you divide them into electronic vs non-electronic. Anything that needs juice is hooked up to my USB ports and left there until they are topped up. If something needs batteries, I double check that nothing has been left inside. Everything thing else is washed with warm soap and water then put through a 10% bleach solution, and then rinsed again.
They are put in front of the fan to dry thoroughly.
Next, the battery toys are put through the same care. Finally, when all the rechargeable have eaten their fill of my power bill, they get a thorough cleaning and drying. After that, I do a simple on/off test.
NOTE: I also do a close inspection of seams and other areas that could have issues. This time, I noticed my double dildo was coming apart at the base. It will go into temp-retirement until I can get it fixed.
The bad news…
One of my Lovense Hush butt plugs died. Thankfully I have a second.
The great news…
I thought my Zumio was dead, but I tried another charge and it lives!
THE END RESULT
It was a long…very long day. But it was totally worth it. Even found a few things I thought I had lost. Oh, and if you’re wondering, the bowl with the yellow stuff is beeswax for my Shibari ropes.
