Smoking fetish, also called capnolagnia, is where someone finds sexual gratification in watching someone smoke (or smoking themselves).
There’s also the undeniable parallel to a phallic shape near a vaginal shape (mouth). Add other elements like licking lips, playing with the smoking item, or even wearing enticing lipstick and it can be quite enticing.
REASONS FOR CAPNOLAGNIA
APPEARANCE: It can be as simple as loving how the act of smoking looks in and of itself.
CONFIDENCE: Some might link it to feeling powerful or self-confident (or confidence in others). Such things can easily be linked to arousal.
DEVELOPMENT: It could have something connected to childhood. Perhaps also a link to psychosexual oral and phallic during developmental years (Freud).
FORBIDDEN: Because smoking has become more and more stigmatized, some might find eroticism in doing something “bad” – just like the teenager sneaking out to be with a boy or girl when their parents have told them not to.
MEDIA: We’ve all seen the “I need a cigarette” after sex on countless television shows, movies, commercials, and other media. Smoking has been linked to sex for years.
MOVEMENT: Unlike “appearance”, there are some who love the body language around smoking – the parting of the lips, the movement of the chest upon in/exhale etc.
POWER: In BDSM, or even regular sex, there is a power dynamic. Forcing someone to smoke (or be an ashtray) can be linked to power exchange and therefore eroticism.
SADOMASOCHISM: Smoking can cause lung damage. The part of BDSM that likes to doll out pain might like this aspect.
WEALTH: In line with media, some cultures also link smoking to wealth – e.g. cigars.
OTHER THINGS TO KNOW
- Smoking fetishes or kinks are more numerous than you might think
- Since it can do considerable damage to the body, some might consider this edge play or entirely off-limits.
- If someone doesn’t like smoking you should never force them into sexual acts involving it.
- Using cigarettes to burn and cause pain is a different kink/fetish
- It can include anything – cigarettes, cigars, hookahs, pipes, vaping, etc.
Personally, I don’t endorse smoking, which is why I don’t include any “how to” tips here. However, everyone is free to do what they please with their bodies (following the SSC rules). So, if you really want to know more, the internet has plenty of excellent forums that can help you along your journey.
