Welcome to my in-depth review of Bare Backstreets, an adult game created by Jasonafex (which you might have heard of through their successful Steam game “Amorous“). If you’re looking for an experience that combines engaging gameplay with titillating adult content, then this arcade-like release might be just what you’re after.
But it’s important to get all your facts first.
In this post, I’m cover everything you need to know about Bare Backstreets, the evolution of the game’s development, its distinct art style, the pros and cons, and how you can have an extra-sensory experience by connecting a Lovense toy. So, buckle up, and let’s dive in.
What is Bare Backstreets?
At first peek, this game looks like your typical side-scrolling, and fighting adventure – something in the same wheelhouse as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.
But instead of the retro pixelated feel that many games are going for nowadays, the studio has honed its previous projects to create a clean, hand-drawn animation style. This gives the game a unique look. Sort of a mixture of comic book hentai furries with a dash of old-school cartoons while still maintaining the motions you would expect from this style of arcade experience.
I personally love the look of this game. And it’s refreshing to see the studio put so much care into the visuals of their product – right down to the stylistic backgrounds.
As for the storyline, this is what the company had to say…
A priceless amulet shatters after a scramble between treasure hunters, seemingly imbued by magic, wisps of essence dance into the sky, dispersing over the city skyline. The spirit of Venus, the god of fertility has reawakened, imbuing you and your friends with irresistible charm.

So, the premise of the game is that the amulet has made you irresistible (to the point of danger) and it’s your job to fight off your enemies as best you can before they basically mount you and do their thing. But it’s important to note that your character is very much enjoying the experience.
I think by now, you’ll know that if you’re not into X-rated computer games, the entire thing will be a huge “con” for you. Otherwise, read on!
Bare Backstreets Demo, Details & Development
As of this article, the game is still in development and should be available in the summer of 2003. But they’re doing something that I don’t see a lot of other game makers do. They are visually tracking their process with meter bars, backed up by their social media posts, and gameplay proof. Meaning they’re staying on track with their progress and keeping their fans up to date in a very transparent way.
Then there’s the Patreon site, which is very reasonable compared to some teirs I’ve seen in the past with other games (definite pro).
All grant you access to the game but higher tears will open up more content – things like extra playable characters, extra NSFW animations, enemies, votes for upcoming events (like characters and stages). Super-tiers give you access to things like input into game design or having an enemy based on you put in the game (with the highest tier if I understand correctly) as a full-fledged enemy with complete animations.
Testing the Free Demo Version
As for the demo (which you can find the latest build here), it already looks like a polished complete project. This is great because any gamer knows the frustration of too many titles being released pretty much in the rough copy stage.
The main screen, where you choose your character, is well designed and quite intuitive. You don’t have to think too much about what buttons you’re pressing. The only “con” I did find with the screen was how to advance further. There was no “play” button like I’m used to. Instead, you just click on the character’s screen portrait.
I will say I had trouble loading the game, but that’s only because my computer is older than Stonehenge. But my old girl had just enough juice to let me see what was going on. And I do promise that when I get an upgrade or the chance to play on a better platform, I’ll update my “play experience” section.
All I can say is that the basic movements were what you’d expect and it only took a little bit of fiddling around to get some of the special movements.
There are some other things about this game that I did find interesting…
- There are a variety of characters, email that you can choose from
- There is a section where you can choose what kinks you want turned on or off – so when you play the game you don’t have to see things you don’t enjoy
- Each character has their own play styles and intimate actions and you have to discover them
- Each level gives you something different, and it gets harder to resist the amulets curse as you advance
- Your spawn locations and enemies are random so things don’t feel repetitive
- You have a 360° area to worry about, enemies can attack from above, below, left, right
- Some enemies will use their muscle others will try to trick you
- There are uncommon and rare items available
- You can turn on a “Purity Mode” which makes the game remove any NSFW stuff
Bare Backstreets & Lovense Sex Toys
If you haven’t explored the Lovense website, or haven’t visited at all, you might not know that there is an entire section dedicated to adult/porn games that can be synced with their toys. So, when a steamy scene happens, the toy will react accordingly.
The exact reactions depend on the game mechanics (obviously). So some games will have longer sex scenes and therefore longer interactive porn experiences.
I would classify Bare Backstreets as a wonderfully teasing and edging game if you choose to use Lovense toys. But, perhaps in later stages where the enemies are stronger and you have to resist longer, they’ll be less teasing and more fulfillment? But we won’t know until the game’s release.
Normally, I would suggest any kind of toy you prefer. But for this game you definitely need a hands-free toy. Something like Lush 3, Gush, Hush 2, Edge2, Ferri, etc. Because your hands are going to be far too busy on the keyboard to be finicking with your sex toy… Unless you really want to lose the game, you know, on purpose.
As for how to connect, there’s a handy dandy icon on the lower left-hand side of the game’s main screen. There’s a Lovense icon and it will help you through the connection process. Also, you can visit here for other instructions on how to connect.

Bare Backstreets Final Thoughts
I know a lot of us gamers are jaded by other studios releasing garbage and just fixing it later. But it just took one look at just a few pages, and a sneak peek at the demo, to know that this game has a lot of love and care put into it. The developers took their time, improve their skills, and put a lot of work into Bare Backstreets.
This is one game I will definitely be purchasing on my own – and not just using a testers game key. And that’s saying a lot.
I think it’s obvious by now I highly recommend this game. And do you need a Lovense sex toy to play it? Absolutely not. The game is 100% playable without them. But having a toy gives you an interactive content aspect that would make it extra delicious.
So, these have been my two cents on the game. And you can follow the in-article links so you can go ahead and make your own decisions. But I’m sure you’ll feel the same way I do.
Enjoy!
