Shade Strapless Strapon Review – Surprising Results

I’ve always been a fan of the traditional dildo harnesses – I find them more secure and easier to control. So, I never really bothered with the strapless strapon versions.

However…

After being contacted by BestVibe.com to try any product I wanted, I decided it was a good opportunity to give one a try.

DISCLAIMER: I received this sex toy for free in exchange for an honest review.

THE BRAND

The toy brand is called “S-Hande” and is distributed by BestVibe.com – so it was as simple as typing the name into Google.

It’s a Chinese company based in Shenzhen that specializes in sex toys. Their entire line seems to be silicone based toys – which is good. Also, they appear to focus on making toys under their own brand name, as opposed to the white brand stuff that can often disappoint.

And, I know what you’re thinking…

That something coming out of China will be crap.

This is far too often the case, but there are a few Chinese-based companies that are trying to churn out body-safe and respectable adult products. Their Alibaba site also has enough photos of their office, factory, and convention booths that I feel confident enough that things are legit.

THE PACKAGING

My gift came in a plain cardboard box – so nothing to worry about there. It was discreet enough that even the building doorman (which took the package for me when I wasn’t home) didn’t have a clue what they had tucked away in their office.

The box itself has the S-Hande logo with decent packaging graphics. The back also gives you toy dimensions, pattern options, and company information.

Inside was also what you would expect.

Everything was in a foam layer with cut-out sections for each element. I will say the cut-out was a bit softer and flimsier than other packaging I’ve seen – but that doesn’t affect its protection or appearance.

Aside from the toy, there was the recharge cable, the remote control, an instruction page, and a customer “thank you” card that asks you for a product rating or feedback.

THE MATERIAL

Both the distributor and manufacturer’s site say that it’s body-safe silicone. So, I did a burn test to double check.

SIDE NOTE: Silicone will not melt under a flame. It will turn black, get ashy, or do nothing. Anything left over should wipe away and the material should be unaffected.

It passed muster with flying colors. I held my lighter to the end for a solid ten seconds and nothing happened.

As far as the ABS plastic portion, that’s just referring to the remote.

THE USE

Here’s where things get interesting.

I’ve been against the idea of strapless strap-ons because they don’t look secure – like they could slide out at any moment. So, when I finally used it on my partner (several times over a couple of days), I was blown away that things stayed in place perfectly.

  1. The part that inserts into the vagina was comfortable and the thin “neck” part was a good balance between flexible and firm.
  2. The section that went into my partner was thick enough to feel good but not so big you would need extra time to relax in order to be able to use it.
  3. We didn’t really notice the textures within the material, but they could have played a part without us knowing.
  4. I had to guide the tip in with my hands but then gentle thrust the rest of the way to get the toy in – this caused some pressure and a tiny amount of discomfort on the bottom part of my vaginal opening but that passed as soon as it was in all the way.
  5. I could feel the vibrations but most of those sensations were on my partner’s end (which he loved). The vibes were also surprisingly strong.
  6. I found the remote simple to use and handy.
  7. I managed to orgasm, but it was a gentler version from the vibration run off and stimulation from thrusting.
  8. The toy didn’t slide out at all (the part inside me) or feel like it was going to slip out of place or rotate in weird ways.
  9. I managed to get as much of the insertable part in as I could, but the thrusting range was limited (but still pleasurable).
  10. There were a couple of positions that made us have to stop because it ended up hurting him. For example, laying on top (while he was on his back) was okay but if I tried to sit up, the new angle and pressure of the toy cause him a little pain.

SIDE NOTE: One image suggested a man could insert the short end into the anus and the other end into their partner. I wasn’t able to test this, but the holes are so close together, and the neck is so flexible, I think it could be possible. I will update this experience when I get the chance.

CLEAN UP & RECHARGING

Clean up was easy – there are no bare parts to worry about water getting into so you can be as splish-splashy as you want. I just used mild soap and warm water.

I will, however, note that you need to feel along the toy to make sure that you don’t miss any bodily fluids. I thought I got everything the first clean, but when it dried I saw a white film.

I’ll also add that the toy AND the remote are charged with the same cable (which I like because that means I don’t have double wires or little batteries to worry about).  Plus, the recharge connector is magnetic-based but strong enough that it doesn’t slip off while sitting on the toy or remote.

NOTE: Recharge time is around 2 hours, which is fairly standard.

All good points.

THE PROS

  • Made from body-safe materials
  • VERY affordable (all things considered)
  • Rechargeable and waterproof
  • Powerful and the patterns are varied
  • Simple remote and no complicated button systems
  • You can use the toy without the remote
  • The on/off button reachable even when you’re inserted
  • Instructions are clear and picture-based
  • You can use it for solo play too
  • Easier to put on than a normal harness
  • Easy to travel with
  • MM – FF – FM compatibility
  • Purple option (if you don’t like pink)

The textures on the dildo end are more pronounced.

Vibration dBs came in at acceptable levels.

THE CONS

  • Slight discomfort upon insertion
  • Limited thrusting range
  • Vibrations are mostly for one partner
  • Textures don’t do much (I think)
  • They say “office use” but I don’t see how
  • Bit of a dust magnet (as you can see from the photos)

SUGGESTIONS

As you can see, the inside textures are subtle.

First and foremost, make sure you use LOTS of lube. And, if it’s for anal play, make sure you reapply (only water-based lubes when you use silicone toys).

This toy also has a slight learning curve – especially if you’re used to harness dildos or have never used wearable dildos during your bedroom shenanigans. You will need to experiment with various positions (even altering how you lean your body in the same position) so you find what works best for you.

NOTE: If possible, check to make sure your country won’t have any additional import fees. Maybe ask the seller if they will know (since they deal with logistics etc).

FINAL VERDICT

I did not expect this to overtake my regular harness for first place in my anal sex toy collection – but it did. The main winning point was the fact it could vibrate (which many harness dildos don’t). I’m also a bit of a power queen (so is my partner) so we were very happy with that.

My partner also said that it felt “different” than our other anal toys (vibrating or otherwise), and that it was more pleasurable. He loved it.

And, considering all of this comes for under fifty dollars, I think it’s a fantastic purchase. I totally recommend it.
